Drive-by Popup's
What's Dead on the Net

So What's "up" with all these popup windows? I mean, it's not the popup windows fault. Popups don't annoy, it's the people who make them appear automatically when you visit their site. Don't they know they're breaking the law?

The first law of Permission Marketing is, well, asking permission. These are the sort of folks who believe the Internet should be used as a weapon. Sort of like a "Drive-by Popup".

Popup's were invented to provide small amounts of information when needed. Imagine attending a seminar where immediately after being introduced, the speaker took the platform, held their book aloft and said, "Buy my book, then I'll speak to you!"

If you'd like to know what to do about Popup Windows, send me a message at jerry@maketechnologywork.com.

Story Update - I told you popup abuse would come back to haunt you! I got a message from Ken, a developer who one day hit the popup that broke the camel's back.

"All of sudden I was getting popups all over the place.  I was working on something else and realized I could convert it to a popup stopping program easily.  Then all the other privacy features started rolling into my head."
